Working like a historian

On the following pages, you will be tasked as historians to reconstruct the life of Sara Bernheimer through intensive research.

The archive is your gateway to a wealth of sources and representations. Search the archive for publications, images, and other materials you need for your research. Each find is a building block for your memorial book. 

Your Role as a Historian

In this step, you will divide different aspects of Sara Bernheimer's life story among yourselves to reconstruct it together as historians. You will examine various stages and facets of Sara Bernheimer's life to create a complete and moving memorial book.

  • Group Member 1: Historian – You will focus on Sara Bernheimer's childhood and family, youth and education, and the remembrance of Sara Bernheimer.
  • Group Member 2: Historian – Your task is to research Sara Bernheimer's adulthood and career, marriage and family, and the remembrance of Sara Bernheimer.
  • Group Member 3: Historian – You will deal with daily life in the Jewish community, the persecution and Holocaust, and the remembrance of Sara Bernheimer.


 
Your Role as ...?

Each of you will take on a key role and focus on specific aspects of creating the memorial book. But that’s just the beginning! In addition to your main role as a historian, you will also have another exciting task. Decide among yourselves who will take on each role:

  • Member 1: Designer 🎨 – You will design the layout of the memorial book and bring it to life with creative (visual) elements.
  • Member 2: Project Manager 📝 – Your role is to lead the team, ensure that all tasks are completed on time, and foster open and effective communication.
  • Member 3: Archivist 🗃️ – You will be responsible for the precise collection and management of archival material, which forms the foundation of the project and helps bring the history to life.
